Going into 2021

Welcome 2021!

2020 was certainly a trying and difficult time for everyone. There were a lot of unknowns and adaptations throughout the entire year. Some may have felt feelings of emptiness and loneliness through all of the isolation. For some the difficulties lead you closer to God, however some individuals put their faith on the back burner. Isaiah 41:10 states the importance of staying close to God, during difficult times:

Isaiah 41:10 So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.

While we may feel like we could have done better last year pursuing our faith, there is still hope and time in 2021! This new year offers us time to grow, have hope, and follow Jesus Christ.

In 2021, we should strive to follow Psalm 96:1-3 and

Sing to the Lord a new song;

sing to the Lord, all the earth.

Sing to the Lord, praise his name;

proclaim his salvation day after day.

Declare his glory among the nations,

his marvelous deeds among all peoples.

So what are ways that we can follow and pursue God? Establishing a quiet time routine will allow you to dive into the Gospel. While reading Devotionals is great, it is important to also read the Bible to read God’s word in context and without any possible bias. The importance of scripture can be understood through 2 Timothy 3:16

All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness.

Prayer is also extremely helpful in building your relationship with God. Prayer is direct communication with our Father. It is a time to thank the Lord for all your many blessings, ask for forgiveness, and supplicate your needs. Our prayer can be modeled by the Lord’s prayer seen in Matthew 6:9-13. Participating in Mollie’s prayer events this semester will help you dive more into this topic, so I encourage you to attend all 4 meetings!

Fellowship throughout this year will bring yourself, as well as others closer to God. This is a time where we can encourage our sisters and the community to grow their relationship with the Lord. Fellowship can help people grow closer to God as well as help nonbelievers find their faith. Fellowship will also provide accountability in making sure you are actively running after your faith. In our sorority, our AG groups are a perfect way to find fellowship and accountability. Take this opportunity to grow closer with these girls and push each other's faith.

Regardless of what is occurring in our lives it is important that we put God first this year! Stick to your routine within your faith and you will notice God’s Glory and all he is doing around you! By praying, participating in fellowship, and having one-on-one time with God, you will face the difficulties of the year and overcome them. Being intentional and accountable will strengthen your relationship with the Lord. Through the good and bad, praise God! This year is what you make of it. I pray this year is better than last year, but all we can do is grow in our faith and display His goodness to the people around us!
